I thought Episode 7 of The WONDERfools would mostly focus on another superpowered fight, but the episode ended up exposing something much darker. Between the failed experiments, brainwashed followers, and Dr Ha’s terrifying plan for the city, this episode felt much heavier than usual. By the end, it honestly seemed like everyone was trapped inside a disaster that had already started.

The episode begins with Jeon-bok officially reporting the illegal experiments tied to the Church of Eternal Salvation. While that investigation starts moving forward, chaos erupts inside the church itself.
Ho-ran targets Un-jeong during the fight by forcing him to relive the night connected to the Child of Eternity’s death. She blames him for everything that happened afterward, and the guilt completely overwhelms him. You can see how badly those memories affect him, especially when he starts questioning himself.
At the same time, Pal-ho attacks Ro-bin and Gyeon-un. Ro-bin struggles to survive the fight and spends most of it enduring Pal-ho’s relentless attacks before finally fighting back with everything he has left.
Meanwhile, the situation inside the church basement spirals out of control as Un-jeong’s powers trigger a violent storm. Gyeon-un uses his abilities to keep Ro-bin and Chae-ni from being swept away after she returns to the church.
One of the more emotional scenes comes when Chae-ni manages to break Un-jeong free from Ho-ran’s illusion. Un-jeong is visibly shaken and suffers a nosebleed while blaming himself for the Child of Eternity’s death. Chae-ni doesn’t abandon him, though. Instead, she tries calming him down after realizing his powers are weakening.
Knowing they can’t stay there much longer, Chae-ni attempts to teleport Un-jeong, Ro-bin, and Gyeon-un away from the church. Unfortunately, Gyeon-un accidentally gets left behind because he lies during the teleportation process. Once Pal-ho slowly regains consciousness, Gyeon-un immediately realizes he’s in serious danger.
Elsewhere, Dr Ha begins another horrifying experiment.
He injects Chae-ni’s blood into Sun-gyu while guards stand by in case something goes wrong. Sun-gyu even orders them to kill everyone involved if the experiment fails. For a brief moment, it actually looks successful as his body transforms into a younger version of himself.
Then everything falls apart.
The transformation disappears within seconds, and Sun-gyu rapidly ages until his body rots away completely. That scene was genuinely disturbing to watch.
Nearby, Chae-ni secretly witnesses the experiment and looks horrified by what she sees. Ju-ran then uses her powers to brainwash the guards and force them out of the lab. Despite Sun-gyu dying instantly, Dr Ha still insists the experiment worked in some way. He immediately demands more of Chae-ni’s blood, making it clear he has no intention of stopping.
Pal-ho quickly goes after Chae-ni, but she escapes by teleporting away after eating a coffee jelly. She suddenly appears during a church service, which creates another tense confrontation inside the Church of Eternal Salvation.
At the same time, Ju-ran notices Pal-ho growing weaker. The rot spreading through his hand may eventually kill him, but Dr Ha completely ignores her concerns. Instead, he pressures both Ju-ran and Pal-ho into continuing their mission for the so-called greater good.
Things become even more uncomfortable when Pal-ho reveals that Dr Ha gave him protection against Ju-ran’s brainwashing powers. That revelation clearly hurts Ju-ran because she realizes Dr Ha never fully trusted her either.
Ho-ran overhears the conversation and seems emotionally isolated afterward. Now that Un-jeong has sided with Chae-ni and the others, she no longer has anyone she can truly rely on.
Outside, Chae-ni finally explodes in anger at the church followers. She scolds them for donating their money to a cult responsible for illegal experiments. Unfortunately, Ju-ran uses her brainwashing abilities again and turns the churchgoers against Chae-ni, the protestors, and her friends.
The crowd scene felt incredibly tense because the threat no longer came from monsters or experiments. It came from ordinary people completely stripped of free will.
Un-jeong uses his powers to defend Chae-ni and tells her to escape with Ro-bin and Gyeon-un. She refuses to leave him behind while he continues fighting alone.
Meanwhile, Jun-mo informs Jeon-bok that something feels wrong at the church. Jeon-bok immediately orders Plan B to move forward, and Jun-mo’s team prepares for an attack.
Elsewhere, Gyeon-un hides on the basement ceiling using his abilities while Dr Ha’s men dispose of Sun-gyu’s body and the dead guards. While hiding above them, Gyeon-un overhears Ho-ran and Ju-ran discussing Dr Ha’s real objective: spreading dangerous chemicals across the city as part of an apocalypse plan.
That moment changes everything.
Terrified for his family, Gyeon-un tries escaping the church facility before the chemicals can be released.
Meanwhile, Un-jeong, Chae-ni, and Ro-bin hide inside another room only to encounter Pal-ho once again. Un-jeong asks Chae-ni to teleport Ro-bin somewhere safe before returning for him later.
What follows is a brutal fight between Un-jeong and Pal-ho that grows increasingly violent until it finally ends in a massive explosion.
After taking Ro-bin back to his apartment, Chae-ni gathers weapons and rushes back toward the church. Outside, Gyeon-un suddenly gets cornered by the brainwashed church followers, but Chae-ni arrives carrying a chainsaw and saves him before they’re overwhelmed.
When Chae-ni finally reaches the destroyed church area, she panics over Un-jeong’s condition. At the same time, Gyeon-un explains Dr Ha’s chemical attack plan and warns her that the entire city may soon be in danger.
Elsewhere, Pal-ho dies in Ju-ran’s arms while the church followers mourn him as their savior.
The episode ends with Un-jeong heavily injured and bleeding badly, yet still forcing himself toward Dr Ha’s lab for one final confrontation.
Episode Review
Episode 7 definitely raised the stakes, especially once the apocalypse plot was revealed. The story finally made it clear that Dr Ha’s experiments are connected to something much larger than individual superpowers.
Still, I had a hard time understanding some of the fight decisions. Ho-ran barely helped Pal-ho even though Un-jeong and Chae-ni’s side clearly worked better together. Since Pal-ho was already weakening throughout the episode, it felt strange that he was left carrying most of the fight alone.
I’m also still unsure about Gyeon-un’s role in the story. His powers continue feeling oddly limited compared to everyone else around him. Maybe the finale will finally give his abilities a bigger purpose, especially now that he discovered Dr Ha’s apocalypse plan.
The chemical itself remains one of the most interesting mysteries in the drama. Based on what the episode revealed, some people develop powers after exposure while others die horribly instead. That unpredictability makes the experiments even scarier because nobody fully understands what the substance actually does.
Even with a few frustrating moments, Episode 7 succeeded at making the finale feel dangerous. For the first time, it genuinely feels like the entire city could be at risk.
