Episode 2 of Go For It, Nakamura! continues the series' winning formula: putting its lovable protagonist into increasingly awkward situations while somehow making every embarrassment feel both painful and hilarious. This episode follows Nakamura as he tries to get closer to Hirose using lessons from BL manga, only for nearly every plan to backfire in spectacular fashion.

Nakamura Turns to BL Manga for Advice
The episode opens with Nakamura studying BL manga like it's a relationship handbook. While reading, he takes notes and carefully analyzes conversations, hoping to learn the right things to say to Hirose. His favorite title at the moment is Lovable Lunches, and he treats it almost like a guidebook for navigating his crush.
It's immediately clear that Nakamura is approaching romance the only way he knows how: through fiction. While his dedication is admirable, it's also obvious that reality doesn't work quite the same way as manga.
A Classroom Crisis Changes Everything
The following morning starts normally enough. Several girls in class chat about a new anime and mention how it reminds them of BL stories. Before the conversation can go much further, chaos suddenly erupts.
A cockroach appears.
One student notices it and immediately runs away screaming. Within seconds, panic spreads through the entire classroom. Students rush out of the room as if they're escaping a natural disaster rather than a tiny insect.
Meanwhile, Nakamura is still half-asleep and completely unaware of what's happening around him. As he approaches the classroom, one of the girls grabs him and shoves him inside, assigning him the responsibility of dealing with the bug.
The problem is that Nakamura hates bugs too.
Unfortunately for him, everyone immediately starts cheering him on. Before he can protest, the mission becomes his.
Hirose Arrives at the Worst Possible Time
Just as Nakamura is trying to figure out how to handle the situation, Hirose arrives.
For most people, this would make things worse. For Nakamura, it becomes motivation.
After reading Lovable Lunches, he's convinced this is the perfect opportunity to impress his crush. Inspired by something he has seen in the manga, he places his notebook near the cockroach and attempts to guide it toward the window.
At first, the plan seems reasonable.
Then Nakamura makes the mistake of getting carried away with thoughts of impressing Hirose.
While he's busy imagining a successful outcome, the cockroach crawls off the notebook and disappears into his clothes.
The moment is pure nightmare fuel.
Nakamura freezes instantly, unsure whether he should move, scream, or simply accept his fate. The classroom erupts into even greater panic than before.
That's when Hirose jumps into action.
Without hesitation, he rushes over and reaches inside Nakamura's blazer to find the insect. He quickly catches it and carries it to the window, where it finally escapes outside.
When Hirose turns back around, Nakamura is in tears.
Not because of the cockroach.
He's overwhelmed by the fact that Hirose just got that close to him.
Honestly, this scene had me laughing the entire time. Nakamura's priorities are completely different from everyone else's, and that's exactly what makes him such an entertaining protagonist.
Another Embarrassing Accident
After surviving the cockroach incident, Nakamura returns to reading Lovable Lunches during lunch, still searching for inspiration. Later, while heading back to class, disaster strikes again.
He slips and falls.
Hirose notices and immediately checks to see if he's okay.
Panicking, Nakamura jumps back up so quickly that he leaves his manga behind on the floor. Hirose picks it up before Nakamura can stop him.
The reaction is immediate.
Nakamura desperately claims the book isn't his.
Trying to help, Hirose asks the entire classroom if the manga belongs to anyone. Nakamura continues pretending he knows nothing about it, while everyone else claims they have never seen it before.
With no owner identified, the manga ends up in the teacher's hands.
Watching Nakamura dig himself deeper into trouble instead of simply admitting the truth is painful in the funniest way possible. Every decision somehow makes the situation worse.
An Unexpected Discussion About Love
Later, Nakamura visits the teacher's office to get a bike permission slip.
While there, he notices Otogiri reading the manga.
Rather than mocking it, the teacher surprisingly offers a positive opinion. He says the story is actually pretty good, adding that whoever owns it is probably too embarrassed to reclaim it.
The teacher also comments that the owner seems a bit naïve when it comes to love.
The observation hits surprisingly close to home.
Although it's a brief scene, it quietly says a lot about Nakamura's character. He's trying so hard to understand romance, yet he's still struggling to navigate even the simplest interactions with the person he likes.
A Chance Encounter at the Manga Store
Since his original copy is gone, Nakamura decides to buy another one.
He heads to a manga store and immediately makes his way to the BL section, where he starts looking through Lovable Lunches and several other titles.
Then something unexpected happens.
Hirose is there.
The encounter catches Nakamura completely off guard, but things quickly take a positive turn. Hirose greets him warmly and properly introduces himself for the first time.
For Nakamura, this is practically a dream scenario.
The two begin talking about manga, and Hirose reassures him that there's nothing wrong with enjoying BL stories. It's a genuinely sweet conversation and one of the most natural interactions they've had so far.
For a brief moment, it seems like everything might finally go Nakamura's way.
Of course, that doesn't last.
The Episode's Most Painful Moment
As the conversation continues, Hirose asks what Nakamura is reading.
A simple question.
A simple answer.
Yet somehow, Nakamura turns it into a disaster.
Embarrassed and flustered, he grabs the first manga he sees instead of honestly answering.
His luck immediately betrays him.
The manga he picks up happens to be a pornographic BL title.
The realization hits both boys at the same time.
Hirose is nearly speechless.
Nakamura, meanwhile, has probably just experienced the most humiliating moment of his life.
My jaw dropped during this scene because the setup is so perfectly cruel. The series keeps finding new ways to make Nakamura's attempts at normal conversation implode, and this might be the funniest example yet.
Review: The Perfect Blend of Comedy and Second-Hand Embarrassment
Episode 2 once again proves why Go For It, Nakamura! is so easy to enjoy. The comedy isn't built around random jokes or exaggerated gags. Instead, it comes from situations that feel painfully relatable, even when they're pushed to ridiculous extremes.
Nakamura remains the heart of the series. His constant overthinking, terrible luck, and inability to act naturally around Hirose create a steady stream of comedy. At the same time, it's impossible not to root for him. Every small victory feels meaningful because we see how hard he works just to get through a basic conversation.
The episode's ending credits deserve special mention. The music remains familiar, but the visual changes tell their own story. Seeing Nakamura curled up on his bed, hugging his knees after another disastrous day, is both hilarious and strangely sympathetic. Without saying a word, the sequence captures exactly how defeated he feels.
What I also appreciated this week is how the relationship between Nakamura and Hirose continues to develop. Their interactions are still awkward, but there's clear progress. Hirose comes across as kind and approachable, which gives the story more substance than a simple series of embarrassing misunderstandings.
If every episode focused only on Nakamura humiliating himself, the formula might eventually wear thin. Thankfully, the series is already building something deeper through his growing connection with Hirose.
The only area that still feels underdeveloped is the supporting cast. Most side characters exist primarily to react to Nakamura's latest disaster. As the season moves forward, giving them more personality would make the world feel richer.
Even so, Episode 2 is another strong outing. It's funny, uncomfortable in the best possible way, and packed with moments that will leave viewers laughing long after the credits roll.
